Channel Mechanics Charity Challenge 2022!
The Channel Mechanics Charity Challenge for 2022 is now up and running. And this year we are going big…very big! For 2022, the team has set a super ambitious target of raising €20,000 for our two charity partners: The Galway Hospice and Galway Autism Partnership. And we need your help….

Croagh Patrick or Bust!
How do we propose to raise €20,000? Well, 24 members of the team are taking on Croagh Patrick on September 30th. Known locally as The Reek, Croagh Patrick stands at 764m (2,507 feet) in height, making it the 5th highest mountain in Mayo. Coming in at 7km in total, it is considered a moderate to strenuous walking route. We’re told the views from the top are spectacular as it rises behind Clew Bay and the surrounding landscape near Westport, a popular tourist town on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way. And while we all know that Ireland is famous for having four seasons in one day, our fingers will be crossed for some fine weather on the day. But regardless of the weather, we will be making the climb to raise funds for these two deserving charities.
“We asked the team for their thoughts into which charity to raise funds for this year. And after some great feedback, we couldn’t decide on just one. Therefore, we chose both Galway Autism Partnership and Galway Hospice. Two charities close to the hearts of our team that do amazing work in our local community. To be able to help both charities in this small way, along with a little, (or maybe a lot!) of physical exercise, is going to be a very rewarding experience for the team.”

Channel Mechanics Donate-a-Day
While still considered a small team in relation to the size of our customer base, our team have set themselves a very ambitious target. So, once again, the company is offering our “donate-a-day” policy, whereby employees can volunteer to give up a day’s holiday to the charity event. By doing so, employees donate their salary for that day to the charity. A policy that has proven very popular for previous fundraising events.
“As well as the charitable aspect, this climb is an opportunity to bring the team together. The last two years have been difficult for everyone. No more so than for new-hires who missed out on the opportunity to come into the office and meet their work colleagues in person and experience life in Channel Mechanics. So this is an opportunity to finally meet colleagues and hopefully have a little fun together, while giving back to our community”.
