Channel Mechanics

Catherine O’Connor, Sr. Quality Assurance Engineer

Channel Mechanics delights today in announcing the appointment of Catherine O’Connor. Catherine joins the team in the position of Sr. Quality Assurance Engineer.

A native of Co.Kerry, Catherine attended the University of Limerick where she graduated with a degree in European Studies with Spanish. Following this, she later completed a Grad Dip in Software Localisation. Upon graduating from UL, she acquired her first role with Microsoft, working on the localisation and testing of several Microsoft Office releases. This role proved to be a great start to a long career for her in the Software industry.

Returning to Limerick, she quickly accumulated a wealth of knowledge in the software industry. She had the opportunity to gain experience in various technology sectors such as eLearning, Billing, and Telecoms. During this time, she assumed a variety of software testing and quality assurance roles. Catherine is grateful to have been afforded many opportunities throughout her career including continuous learning, travel, and meeting many great people along the way.

Joining Avaya in Galway in 2011, she worked on unified communication products, as well as large enterprise customer engagement solutions. She assumed the role of QA Assurance Engineer, within different components of the solution, allowing her to gain experience in both Avaya digital and voice channels. This role included working as an integration tester and QA lead, where she coordinated and managed offshore QA teams. She developed a keen interest in Agile and subsequently worked as a scrum master in her final years with Avaya.

Since 2014, the lovely village of Ballinderreen has been home to Catherine. In her spare time, she spends her weekends mostly at the side of hurling pitches or the occasional soccer pitch where she cheers on her children’s teams. Additionally, she is a coach for the local underage hurling and camogie teams. She is also an avid sea swimmer, going for a dip no matter the time of year!

Speaking about the appointment to her new role:

“I am very happy to be joining the Channel Mechanics team as a Senior QA Assurance Engineer. I look forward to getting started in my new role and gaining knowledge of the product and processes within Channel Mechanics. It is clear there is a great dynamic between the teams and an excellent culture of open communication and collaboration, and I am very excited to be a part of it.”

– Catherine O’Connor
