Channel Mechanics delights today in announcing the promotion of Eimear O’Connor to the position of Software Engineer – Squad Lead.

Eimear originally joined the Channel Mechanics team as a Software Engineer in May 2022, following a three-month work placement. She has worked closely with the Data Analytics team, designing and developing reporting solutions. Engaging with customers on a regular basis, she is involved in implementing end-to-end solutions. This includes integrating customer data from line of business applications and turning it into easily consumable information through the provision of Performance Dashboards and Reports for our customers and their partners.

Furthermore, in May 2023 Eimear was promoted to the position of Software Engineer – Squad Lead. Here she will continue to lead the team, further enhancing the solution design and functionality, ensuring ease of use for customers.

A native of Tipperary, Eimear attended the University of Limerick and graduated in 2004 with a Degree in Business Studies. Upon completing university, Eimear opted to move to London, and what started as a summer of change quickly escalated, spending 17 years in total overseas.

Eimear is a CIMA-qualified accountant, having spent eleven years working in finance in London and Sydney. Particularly, she worked in various roles such as AX Finance Consultant, Financial Reporting Analyst, and Functional Lead. Her vast experience comes from companies including Network Rail, Transport for London, and John Laing. After her time here, Eimear opted to move into IT, spending six years working as an ERP Functional Consultant for Carillion and CBRE.

After 17 years abroad, Eimear returned to Ireland in 2021, where she undertook a HDip in Software Design & Development at the University of Galway (formerly NUIG). As part of the HDip, she joined Channel Mechanics on a work placement, subsequently becoming a permanent member of the team upon graduating in 2022.

Speaking about Channel Mechanics, Eimear commented:

“I’m delighted to join Channel Mechanics having completed my HDip industry project for them. Everyone I’ve met so far has been so friendly and welcoming. And its so refreshing to work for an Irish company after so long living away. I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn from such a knowledgeable and innovative team and excited to see where my new career in software development will take me”.
