Channel Mechanics

Eoin McArdle, Junior Software Engineer

Channel Mechanics delights today in announcing the appointment of Eoin McArdle. Eoin joins the team in the position of Junior Software Engineer.

Born and raised in Galway, Eoin’s passion for programming began in secondary school. From a young age he enjoyed learning about computers, using his spare time to write simple programs and games, as well as making (and sometimes breaking!) electronics devices. One summer holidays, he started his journey with C programming, completing an online diploma. To this day, C remains to be Eoin’s favourite programming language.

Upon leaving secondary school, Eoin studied Computer Science at the University of Galway (formerly NUIG). During this time, he had the opportunity to complete two internships. He firstly joined Storm Technology for a summer as a Software Development Intern, working with Channel Mechanics’ CTO Denis Cronin. The following year, he assumed a similar role with Fidelity Investments, during his third year in college. Both of these internships presented him with a steep learning curve on the software development life cycle. In particular, he gained a lot of experience ranging from back-end development, UI development, Devops and testing.

After taking some time off after college, Eoin then joined the Channel Mechanics team as a Software Engineer Intern, mainly working on a new module for our customers. He gained invaluable experience during this time, and he thoroughly enjoyed working alongside the development team while using a progressive and modern tech stack. He has since joined the team full time as a Full-Stack Junior Software Engineer.

Outside of computing, Eoin loves to spend time in his workshop. Woodworking, furniture-making and metalwork are three passions that are close to his heart. He also enjoys reading and listening to audiobooks while working on projects in the workshop. Alongside this passion, he also enjoys spending time in the gym or going on walks with Jojo, his rescue greyhound. Jojo has proven to be a great companion, giving Eoin the goal of adopting more rescue dogs in the future.

Speaking about the appointment to his new role:

“With rapid growth and exciting potential, Channel Mechanics provides a perfect environment for fast-paced learning and for making meaningful contributions as a developer. I hope to learn from our experienced senior development team and play my part in driving innovation at Channel Mechanics.”

– Eoin McArdle
