With our continuing expansion, we are today delighted to announce the newest addition to our growing team. It is with great excitement that we welcome James Barrett to our EMEA headquarters in Galway. James joins our Software Team, where he takes up the position of Software Developer.
James, a rare Galway native, initially studied for a Bachelor of Science in NUI Galway. Here he obtained his undergraduate degree before going on to undertake an MSC in Astrophysics, detailing around Computational Modelling. This is the use of computers to simulate and study complex systems using mathematics, physics and computer science. However, during the pandemic, James decided to use the time to develop his skills further.
With an interest in software development, he returned to NUI Galway to obtain a Higher Diploma in Software Design and Development. On completion of his course, James then secured the position of software developer with Channel Mechanics.
During his free time, you’ll likely find James reading, painting, planning for his D&D campaign (Dungeons and Dragons for those not in the know!), or entertaining his demanding cat, Pixie! With the end of lockdown, and hopefully soon the pandemic, he is very much looking forward to having visitors over for game nights again.
Speaking about his appointment, James commented:
“It’s exciting to join such a growing company located in my home of Galway. Creating things is very important to me, and getting to do so as a software developer is a great opportunity. The team is very helpful and welcoming, and I’m looking forward to becoming a part of it!”
