Channel Mechanics

Peter Flannery, Distinguished Product Engineer

Channel Mechanics delights today in announcing the appointment of Peter Flannery. Peter joins the team in the position of Distinguished Product Engineer.

Peter is a distinguished Product Engineer and leader with over 25 years of experience in the software development industry. Throughout his career, he has worked for large multinational corporations including Dell, Nortel, and most recently Avaya.

Peter is a native of Limerick city and also attended the University of Limerick, where he completed a primary degree in Physics. Following this, he chose to specialize in Computer Engineering as a postgraduate. In 1998, he moved to Galway to begin working on a pioneering AI expert software project for Nortel. Since then, he has been working on and later leading various global research and development projects from Galway. He has had firsthand experience of every aspect of the software development life cycle, and he has also had to continuously evolve and be adaptable as new technologies emerge. In particular, he holds experience in the field of real time omnichannel communication/collaboration and contact center solutions.

Peter is an inventor with several international patents, and a serial innovator who is passionate about designing and delivering novel technology solutions for challenging and complicated problems. Notably, he has also mentored many new generations of Galway Engineers. Here, he has been a strong influencer in their development, driving a culture of experimentation and evidence-based design decisions from his scientific background. Most recently, Peter successfully pitched and led a very significant five year project on the unification and migration of all of Avaya’s on premises thick and thin software clients to a single worldwide UCaaS platform in the cloud.

In his spare time, Peter loves most sports, but in particular Hurling and Rugby. He also enjoys travelling to new places with his wife Anna and their two children. In particular, they enjoy the opportunity to experience different cultures as well as meet new people.

Speaking about his new appointment in Channel Mechanics:

“I am delighted to join Channel Mechanics, where there is so much positive energy and collaborative spirit at the new global headquarters campus in Galway. I love the enthusiastic “Yes we can!” attitude of the technical teams which is complimented by incredible customer engagement and knowledge by everyone in Leadership, Marketing, Sales and Support. This is a winning combination under the watch of inspiring CEO Kenneth Fox. I am new to this domain but I am really looking forward to learning from and working for Sean O’Connell, helping him and the team continue the business expansion and success, both for Channel Mechanics and our ever growing list of satisfied customers.”

– Peter Flannery
