Channel Mechanics is delighted to announce the appointment of our latest team member, Tommy Sweeney. Tommy joins our QA team as a Senior QA Engineer in our EMEA Headquarters in Galway.
A graduate from the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG), Tommy studied Industrial Engineering & Information Systems. Following on from this, he attained a Masters in Engineering Science.
Having worked for a variety of multinationals, including both Avaya and Nortel, Tommy brings with him 28 years’ experience. He kick started his career as a manufacturing engineer with AST Computers in Limerick. After four years here, the west came calling and Tommy relocated back to Galway to join Nortel. Accordingly, Tommy’s interest in software quality/testing began and subsequently played key roles on Nortel’s e-commerce and online sales and configuration tools.
Tommy brings a vast amount of experience having held Senior Quality Assurance positions with Intec Billing and, most recently, with the fintec, Planet. He is both passionate and committed to evaluating product behavior and characteristics with respect to the expectations and needs of customers.
Outside of work, Tommy is an avid sports fan. Above all, he has a passion for Gaelic games, both hurling and football. In fact, his two sons are active participants in their local GAA club. During the pandemic, Tommy developed a major passion for the outdoors and would often go on 15-20km “strolls” exploring the beautiful Galway coastline.
