Channel Mechanics is delighted to today announce the appointment of Geraldine Powderly. Geraldine takes up the position of Chief Information Security Officer, as we continue to go from strength to strength.
Geraldine’s journey to Channel Mechanics commenced with a Degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Greenwich. From here she started her career as a software developer, moving into the realm of software quality assurance (mostly because she was exceptional at breaking software!). Above all, her vast experience in this arena comes from working with global companies Ericsson, Boston Scientific, Nortel and Avaya. In these companies, she worked her way from senior roles to QA Management roles.
Subsequently, in 2012 Geraldine changed direction by entering the exciting world of Cyber Security. An area she is indeed very passionate about. For the past eight years, she worked with Synchronoss, a Software Services Company, providing game-changing SaaS And PaaS offerings to the world’s best companies. Over those eight years she was part of their cyber security team. This involved working in several roles where she embraced opportunities in security incident response management, penetration testing, vulnerability management, audit and risk management, and identity & access management. In addition, she assisted in building a security team from two people to over 30.
As Director of Security Operations at Synchronoss, she managed a global team of 20 security engineers. This included a Security Operations Center which provided 24X5 security monitoring, ethical hackers and vast security tools. Over the past eight years, she has been in a position to watch how the world of security has evolved from a “nice-to-have” to a “must-have” service within companies. Customers expect all organizations that store their data to protect it with the upmost of care and diligence.
Speaking about her appointment to CISO, Geraldine commented:
“I am thrilled to join Channel Mechanics as CISO at this exciting time in the company’s growth. As CISO, I endeavor to prioritize customer confidence in our platform by securing customer data. In addition to ensuring world class security protocols for our software platform.”
A native of Corofin in Galway, Geraldine is married with 3 children. When not fighting cyber crime, she likes nothing better than finding the time to hit the road and get some cycling in. In fact, she has participated in road racing for several years, including women’s and mixed racing events. However, nowadays her focus is on leisure cycling.
