Ian Davis, Sr. Quality Assurance Engineer

Channel Mechanics delights today in announcing our latest appointment, with Ian Davis taking up the position of Senior Quality Assurance Engineer. 

A native of Cork, Ian graduated from University College Cork with a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce. Following this he continued his studies to complete a Higher Diploma in Computer Science. As such, Ian brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new position having worked in many QA, Test Automation and Project roles across multiple industries.

In his early career, Ian worked for Software Localization and Telecommunication companies in Dublin. Throughout his time in Dublin, he gained experience with many QA Methodologies and Automated Test Tools. He then moved to Galway where he took up Software QA roles with global Telco companies Nortel and Avaya, focusing mainly on Developing Test Strategies, Test Automation and Customer Support. During this time, Ian also became certified by the International Software Testing Board.

Ian then moved on to work with SQA Consulting Limited where he took on the role of Senior Test Analyst. Here, Ian had a range of responsibilities primarily focusing on developing and executing test strategies and frameworks. Ian has also worked in the Engineering industry, where he managed a Software Test Department for a global company that designed and implemented multiple software products for the Offshore Oil and Gas industry.

Outside of work, Ian enjoys spending the majority of his downtime with his young family. Sport and music also feature strongly in Ian’s life. He is a keen golfer and follows most sports, particularly soccer and the GAA. Ian has been playing the guitar for many years and enjoys playing music with other musicians as well as attending live music gigs.
